Clonorchis sinensis Infection and Nutritional Status of School Children

Abstract
In an attempt to determine the effect of Clonorchis sinensis infection the nutritional status of school children in Yeong-cheon area, seven hundred and fiftynine children, seven to twelve years of age, were tested with the Ritchie¢¥s concentration stool examination, the Stoll¢¥s egg counts and anthropometric measurements(height, weight and mid-arm circumference).
The intensity of the infection among the children, expressed in eggs per gram of the feces examined, varied from 0 to over 8, 000, in which almost all of the children were found to be mild infection.
The anthropometric measurements revealed no significant difference between the children infected with Clonorchis sinensis and non-infected controls.
It is likely that the infection of Clonorchis sinensis may not influence the nutritional status of. school children in this study.
